Vintage Linens

 

I stopped at an estate sale a week ago and came across a shoe box full of small embroidered linens.  After just a slight negotiation, I brought home the whole box of 21 linens.  I don't know why I'm drawn to these, but I always love the richness of the fabric (even if slightly marred) along with the handiwork and time that has gone into each piece. A bit nastalgic, but they always remind me of my grandma who, with  much love, would embroider the collars of my white blouses that would be worn under my plaid jumper school uniform for elementary school. Oh those were the days - lol!

When I come across linens like these, I tend to visualize them being used in new creative ways. Here are a few fun ideas....

... now where was I? Oh yes, when a sweet Minnesota couple decide to get married at the bride's grandparents farm in Rockford, MI, it might look a little like this....

 ...and they lived happily ever after!

Fairytale Flowers...

Once upon a time, a Minnesota couple decided to get married on the bride's grandparent's farm in Rockford, MI. They wanted locally grown blooms to arrange in a very special way on the tables incorporating mason jars from the farm,  pharmaceutical bottles found at a flea market and vintage china provided by various relatives. The results speak for themselves....

Happy Holidays!~

I just love this time of the year!~  The snow, the decorating, the Christmas carols, and most importantly, the real reason for the season!

I spent some time making ornaments this week.  The best part of this project was that all of the supplies were already on hand. 

The idea came while cutting rose hips from our property to use in our outside containers. 

 I just happened to have a few clear glass ornaments left from my craft sale days...

Using epson salt (that was used in a winter wedding centrepiece display), ribbon, wire and boutonniere bags (that I always have on hand), resulted in the following fun, wrapped gifts...
