Vintage Camper Rally

This past weekend, The Tin Can Tourists held a rally at Hoffmaster State Park.  There were open visitor hours on Saturday afternoon, and though my husband could have gone without me, he waited until I was done with my work for the day and we headed out in the evening with our girls and my mom to check out the vintage camper fun.  Though the owners didn't have their full displays out, and some campers had already left for the day, we were able to see quite a few fun campers and visit with the friendly owners.  Here is a little bit of what we saw...

It was so much fun to see all of the different styles, colors and set ups.  We drove home, excited for our own next camping trip.  This is what was sitting in our driveway, back from winter storage...
Looking forward to some fun summer camping time!!!

Flowers Flowers Everywhere...

It is such a gift to be able to work with flowers.  This weekend, Forrester Farm provided flowers for a beach wedding in Grand Haven.  We also created bouquets for a local dance studio so that there would be flowers available for the dancers at 4 recital times.  330 flower creations later, here are some of the wedding production photos...

2012 Forrester Farm Internship Position

Forrester Farm

As the 2012 wedding and garden schedule is gearing up for a very full season, it is time to find a fabulous energetic intern to join in the fun.  We were blessed in the past to have Alize from France join in our farm and family activities.  A local helper would be just as welcome!

We are seeking an energetic outgoing assistant who transitions comfortably from elegant wedding environments to being surrounded by horses and chickens while working in the garden area.

The ideal candidate will assist with:
*weekly garden duties including:  planting, weeding, cutting & maintenance.
*weekly bouquet production for retail accounts.
*wedding floral prep and production.
*wedding set up and tear down as needed.
*garden room events - including: set up, tear down and customer service.
*office and other duties as they arise.

Ideal candidate would possess excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently and with a group and be open to learning in a variety of settings.

The position would include working 10 to 15 hours a week.
This is an unpaid position but can be counted toward college credit if approved.

Former knowledge of flowers, wedding work and garden experience is helpful.  A great eye for photography and design would be an added bonus.  Most importantly is a fun loving, get things done attitude.

All interested candidates should contact us through the contact section of our Forrester Farm website .  A resume and cover letter will be required following our initial contact.

Thank you and have a blessed day!  Ann Forrester

Craving a Little Camper Time....

It's time to pay for our yearly stay at a little get away... up north!

A place where we gather, regardless of weather,
with family and friends for a week every year.

Soaking in sun while finding rock treasures,
sharing a meal that everyone pleasures.

Reading and often responding to teases,
later lulled to sleep by the Lake Michigan waves and breezes.

Laughing by lakeside, exploring the town,
this time with my family is priceless, I've found.

Miniature Garden Inspiration

Miniature gardens are a wonderful way to bring the outdoors in or to enjoy a fun, whimsical mini space outdoors.
Let your imagination fly:
1. find a container that you really like (a planter, wagon, vintage roasting pot, wooden box or drawer, etc).
2. add soil and plants (herbs or low growing ground covers work fabulously. Moss can be a great accent too).
3. add your miniature garden accessories, perhaps even a pea gravel walk.
4. water and enjoy!

I've loved using miniature gardens for wedding and event centerpieces.  They make a wonderful gift to give or receive.  Simply a great garden idea for urban dwellers, home chefs, beginning or master gardeners, children...  really anyone who would like to enjoy a beautiful, easy to maintain, portable garden.

See our Etsy shop for the garden miniature accessories that are available through Forrester Farm.  Let the inspiration begin!
